I found an 866 in a scrap punto 60. The problem is when I cleaned it up one of the lobes looked a bit worn. I have measured its height and it is indeed a couple of mm smaller than it should be.

The worn lobe is still taller than the 4x4 cam but lower than the Cinq cam.

I wonder if I fit the worn camshaft will it cause problems or cause a noticeable difference?? Basically is it worth installing it... i wad planning to use it in an mpi sei

Forgive me if I'm on the wrong path but can't you reshim it with a thicker shim to reduce the lob wear??

A bigger shim would close the valve clearance increasing wear

But anyway purf you've got to remember the 866 didn't just have higher lift the duration was Also longer if it was me I'd put it in shim it up ect and just make a note of what shim come out of where so you can revert it back if you don't feel any noticeable gains

if the lobe has worn a couple of mm, that is a lot!!!!!! i would be seriously worried about the condition of the journals.
i wouldnt use it.

Cheers guys. It's a good thing I checked it with a measuring caliper otherwise I wouldn't known. I think I might put in the 176 cam I have instead. Still better than the 4x4 i think?
