Hello mates, again from the "almost" dead black & yellow cinq.
Today I bring you a Kind of unique problem.
The problem started because some water pipes started to blow up. My brother told me it was too much pressure and usually (in fiats) the rise in pressure is because of a blown head gasket. Now that I have my new head gasket (maybe I'll post photos, may have a little surprise) I will change it but, heres the catch. Until that, I still need the car, but, sometimes, it emptys itself. I mean, literally. The water goes away. It comes from the right side of the engine, where the water pump is, but it doesn't seem to come from the water pump. Now, here's the akward situation. Sometimes the water stays inside the expansion tank. Sometimes the leak dissapears. Any help on this one?

There's a metal pipe which runs across the front of the engine, the likelihood is that the seal on this has given up. Item's 8 & 9 refer:

Thats a normal o-ring por some fiat engineered part?

Is that a normal o-ring or some kind of fiat seal?

Water pumps generally only leak when running, and often only once hot. This makes it difficult to detect, as hot coolant evaporates instead of running down, so is less obvious.
Thing is, when its leaking doesn't make a difference if its cold or hot. It just leaks. It starts leakin from no where, then, stops again. Yesterday drove my car for 50km and didn't leak a thing. But last monday, I couldn't do 50meters that would run out of water.

It definitely sounds like that steel water pipe if it's the water pump side it had the same on my old mk2 punto you can buy the seal on its own,or the pipes not much more but I did read up somewhere that fiat updated the design of said seal

Seriouslly? Damm, I still can't seem to find the leak, its in the "non-leak" time, waiting from it to leak again. I'm doin the head gasket next monday, and I'll get that pipe out to take a close look. Thanks mate ;)

Are you fully bleeding it every time you have to top up/refill?

I don't know what the name parts for that, but I had a heater problem, and cut out the bleed valve. I can't really explain, but I'll try. The aux radiator had a major leak, So I chopped the pipes and hang them together.
This also took the valve out, so I can't bleed.

rallycinq u think is the reason why my head gasket was gone? And my brother told me that, for bleedin, we need to take the radiator pipe until it starts blowin water out. After that, we put the pipe back again. Do tou have another way of doin it?

Entirely possible. It is most unusual for a head gasket to just 'go', although it does happen.

More likely is some outside influence causing a rise in temperature leading to failure. Air in the system can cause this.
