Technical MPI immobiliser problem. Swap ECU?

HI,

I tried the FPS. It's the rubber-covered button under the dash? It didn't change anything

I did try alternate coils but if the faulty part could be damaging them i would need to change them all in one go

I have ordered a crank sensor. It should arrive early next week

I've trusted the garage to do the checking but i think they are going what the reader says. I got them to plug it in so i could get what it says. I don't know if this is any use at all. One of the pictures is not 100% clear

I think the garage have drawn a blank and are either waiting for me to solve it or their auto electrician to turn up

Hi Jim
The code U1600 relates to the immobiliser as the garage has said
U codes are manufacturer specific codes
So either the immobiliser ECU isn't talking to the engine ECU possible broken wire
Or
As in my case the engine ECU had died and I swapped both ECUs and coil pack to cure it

Did the garage test the wiring I posted earlier

Hi dadandlad,

Looking back through your posts i can't see which wiring you mention. I was with the car on Wednesday and have come back to Scunthorpe

I will definitely take you up on your offer. If you would like to contact me via pm or call me on 0781196216 i can get your details

thanks

James

James and I have just spent a pleasurable but wind swept couple of hours on his mums Seicento and now up and running

When the ignition was turned on the code light didn't come on for the required second or so
Checked the maxi fuse behind the battery and this had blown at which point we thought we had got it sorted but on replacement we still had no code light and wouldn't start
I couldn't find any reason for the maxi fuse to have blown and can only assume it was when the battery was fitted

We then tried the ECU that James had brought and this put the code light on permanent so something amiss with that

Luckily I had a spare ECU and lock set which I had bought in case mine ever went again

So after fitting my spare set the code light came on and went out after a second or so and she started up and run just fine

James now on his way back to his mums with the car and everybody is happy ?

Mark's a great bloke. Giving up his time to help someone out

He's actually lent me his spare ecu setup for me replace when i get one

My Mum is so relieved. She's been stuck without her car for months

Thanks very much, Mark

James
