hi all
yes its still doing it. changed map sensor, plugs, leads, coils, air filter, fuel filter, tank, head gasket. only thing not tried is a lambda sensor. think its worth a try? how much are they roughly?
by the way i was driving the thing tonight and noticed that at a steady rpm, light throttle, it does this hesitation thing. it sort of chokes if you know what i mean then clears and repeats every 5/6 seconds. weird. but it gets better after its warmed up but doesnt go completely.

My guess is the Lambda sensor.

Do you have the standard exhaust manifold or a custom one?
Reason I'm asking is that I have an idea that the Lambda is placed to cold (under 500 degree Celsius) and this can cause the Lambda sensor to react slowly.
One reason can be that Lambda is worn and not reacting fast enough.
Another reason can be that lambda is placed to cold and has to warm up before is measures correctly and this could cause hesitation.

I'm going to do some tests with exhaust powerwrap to get temperature on Lambda higher - this could be the way to get rid of the hesitation problem.

There have bin allot of questions regarding hesitation lately and I will try to throw some light at this irritating problem.

BTW. does anyone know where to buy exhaust powerwrap in UK?

Cheers

lambda sensor cured it. finally got round to getting one and fitting it today. the tailpipe fell off the other day. well, it was hanging of and i pulled it the rest of the way giving myself a large crack on the head in the process. anyway, fitted the sensor (it aint coming out again) and it drives smooth as ive ever driven it. are ngk sensors any good by the way? it was cheap as i got discount so we'll see.:D

I think this is what is duff on mines, although I still haven't got round to doing that compression test yet.

Can you provide details of where you got the sensor please?

Cheers

Liam

you aint the only person to suffer from lambda flu!! :(

my car has been running bit poo and rinking gogo juice, replaced sensor earlier today (bit*h of a job on the mpi sei!) and now runs sweet as a nut!! :slayer:

liam, try justlambdas.com, thats where i got mine from and it was a proper ntk direct replacement for the standard jobbie (y)

got mine from partco in elgin. it was the ngk/ntk 4 wire proper jobber and cost about 40 quid plus the vat. mind you that is with discount through the motor club at work.(y)
