right then....

my injector warnin light has been comin on an off for a good few weeks now.

2 bottles of injector cleaner, treatment of slick 50, went off for ages, thought it had gone but its re-appeard, along with some hesitation while driving.

however, my MPG has actually gone up, gettin 250 miles per 32 litres, instead of 200-210 a few weeks ago to the same ammount of petrol, but that could be down to the drives ive been doing.

i am guessin i need a new lambda sensor, but dont have the time / money to sort it till i got her totally road legal again.

so.... long term effects of a dodgey lambda / map sensor are?

p.s: map sensor, isnt that manifold absolute pressure? but wat does it do exactly? same for the lambda?

lambda and map (manifold absolute pressure) sensors control the fueling, air / fuel ratio.

with them not working properly the ECU may cock up the fueling, run too rich or too lean. too rich for too long will kill the cat (can't remeber if that car has a cat?), too lean means it all gets a bit too warm in there.

if u take it to somewhere that can read error codes, they'll be able to tell u which sensor is at fault then ur not replacing things needlessly

thought so.... makes sence about the shuddering then, but wats with the fuel consumption? that related to the ratio bein off?

If the ECU is running in Limp home constamtly, It'll be using a preset value for iginition advance. Emissions may be higher, fuel economy may be worse too and general performance may be down....its because the ECU isnt optimising the point it chooses to ignite the fuel/air charge!

lambda was out and in a couple of times when i had the wee gal, if its the same downpipe as back then that is :p

Ah, he'll have it easy then! :D mine was a right nightmare, ended up hacking it off with the grinder so I could put a socket on it, clamping the downpipe in a workbench and giving it hell with a 2 foot breaker bar...

I swapped a Lambda sensor over a few weeks back, 22 or 23mm spanner and a bit of wrenching got it out but I stripped the threads on it because I was trying not to break it off.
