Hi all, what temp should my cinq run at at running temp, its just its between 90-100, ive had it up to 100 and have had a burning smell, but it soon goes back down to 90 degrees. Any ideas? Graham

Should run about 80 on the gauge at say 50mph in this weather. Will run up to 95 or maybe 100 if stuck in traffic.

the fan cuts in, you can ear it wuuring, but as u say, this only happens in traffic. I guess thats answered my question I gota broom yellow cinq abarth, 80,000 on the clock luvly little car. just plannin what to do to it, shocks, springs, exhaust, air filter, it looks sweet in standard form. its it good nic for 80,000. i love it

my cinq stays at the thin line just above 50, goes upto 90 in stop start traffic, but goes back down to that mark again once i have started moving. what could be wrong? i get roughly 230 miles on a tank, drive hard though.
899cc with no mods. the best was only 360 on the motor way. temp stayed the same then too.

Mine always runs at just below the little line below 90. Goes up to 90 if I am sat in traffic but is just as quick to go back down again. Temp used to always run at 90+ until my radiator went pop about 3 months ago. Been cooler ever since then.

If they run at 55 degrees, the thermostat or gauge sender are shot.

The fan kicks in at 90, so could it still be the thermostat? if it is gone, how much are they, are they easy to fit?

It does vary- In traffic it'll hit 90 and the fan comes on.. as the thermostat opens at 86, that must be working...

In traffic mine starts to heat up very quickly...but on the motorway in this weather (cold) mine will sit at around 50-60. I reckon its the cold air feed...

50-60 is a bit too low. Thyermostats are about £12 for either Sporting or 899. Never done one on an 899, Sportings aren't too difficult - just need a couple of hours, a thermostat and some fresh antifreeze. And a Haynes manual.

arseofbox, how many miles do u get on a full tank of petrol? do u drive hard? i take mine to the red line, or more! as it doesnt accelerate otherwise!!!do more dual carridgeway now, still only get 240 - 260 miles on a tank.

been to fiat, they said thermostat gone, gettin it sorted some time this week. will let u no if it works properly. hope it does!

Id say yes I do drive hard,but my estimations are based on my fuel guage that appears to read a bit low.

But Ive noticed that from the 1/2 tank point to the reserve light is about £10, and I just logged 150 miles from the midpoint to the reserve!!

But thats 90% motorway driving, and using an Ecotek calibrated to stay nearly constantly open!!

done the thermostat, now runs between 80 & 90. i was also surprised to find it doesnt take long form a cold start to get to operating temp! very pleased! hopefully now will get good mpg
