On the M4 between junction 12 (theale) and the membury services (junction 14 & 15)(both directions) they have placed the new kind of speed cameras. there are NO signs warning us about them. these cameras dont flash either. they take a digital photo of your car at one junction, another photo at the other junction, then work out your average speed. if over 78mph you will be fined the usual way. they work 24/7 365 days a year. also radar detectors will not detect these cameras as they do not give out radars or laser beams.

more of these cameras are to be used over the m4, i know that they are installing them near bridgend too.

it's called the specs system! don't know what specs means? but your'e right,they take a digital photo at one end then half a mile down the same road take another,calculate your overall speed then that's it,your'e nicked! i've heard a rumour that if it takes a pic of your car in one lane and then at the next camera youv'e swapped into another lane then it doesn't register properly???? bear in mind thats only a rumour.i've also heard that speed camera detectors dont pick them up nut the systems that alarm you when you are in the area of a fixed camera etc, e.g angel they are being updated so that you will be warned that you are in the area of a specs system! hope this helps?
