Hi all. How you doing??

Ive just got my car back from fiat and they m.o.t my car.

My headlight didn't work. They said that its the wiring. but they are going to change me 3 hours labour plus the part and they want £300+.
Im not paying that for some wiring whats it made of GOLD.

i just got it back and i looked at it again.

I got my test light out and i dont have any power on the connecter (when the swith is on dipped)
But when i putt in on to full beam there is power there.

I have checked the fuses all o.k
I have change the switch before with a new one from fiat and a second hand one from a mate car.

i don't get it how can there be power going to full beam and not dipped???

Any idea please would be a help as don't have a lot of cash and need my car.

Thanks Guys (y)

Not really a direct ans but after re-wiring all my column switches from Cinq type to Sei type there are at least 6 wires on the back of the switch to activate the lights, these proved the most troublesome for me to re-route to the column and took me a few hours to suss out what they all did.

I would suggest removing the switch from the dash but still have it in the holder check all wires are held in place and then check for current and continuity across the switch as you move it through the diff positions.

I am right in saying you have checked by using another switch in place to confirm the switch is not at fault?

Then you will need to check for earths etc at the light units themselves and the relays to the lights.

When it comes to wiring it takes time and patience to source problems I'm afraid and it is very difficult to give any advice without seeing the problem first hand such in the nature of electrics.

run a wire from the back of the switch, to the headlights connector. and then try the lights.

if it works, you have a wiring fault on the switch to light wire. trace it and find the fault

k

look at the wiring diagram, and just trace and check the cable from start to finish. sounds like there is a break in the cable somewhere. just gotta go thru and find it

hi all.

my headlights still are not working.
ive had a look in the book and i have notice a yellow wire from the ingition switch to a fuse (44). then a light blue and red wire to the dim/dip resistor.

does anyone know where this fuses is or this resistor thing.

please help as i want to drive my cinq.
thanks guys

you have a wiring fault somewhere from the switch to the bulb. the wire needs tracing and the fault finding.

the dimdip reistor is to bring the main bulb on dimly when put the sidelights on

ok then. thats not working because when my sidelights are on the headlight doesn't do anything. i know they normaly glow a little (headlight) when the side light is on. all i have is side lights on there own and full beam. so i was thinking maybe that fuse on the yellow wire might be the prob;em.
