We have had clutch related issues on our Sei Sporting for a few months now which seemed to pass with a slight adjustment to the cable.

The latest development is a clicking noise (not every time) when the clutch pedal is pressed and released.

Read various guides etc. all with different opinions - is it the release bearing or is there a chance that we could repair it by a change of cable alone?

Would appreciate your thoughts / guidance

Marty

Also, there is a slight chirping noise, when using the clutch, would that be the release bearing?

Try cleaning and greasing up the cable adjuster in the engine bay, first.
If the rounded surface on the nut is uneven you can give it a few strokes with sandpaper to smoothen (is that even a word?!) things out.

Give it some heavy silicone grease on the rounded edge and refit.

Lubing up the connection in the foootwell won't do any harm, either!

I did the above to my car on the second day after buying it. The difference was like night and day - o'joy, it really IS a light clutch!

Do notice whether the cable has a nylon lining. If so, the cable itself should not be given oil nor grease, except for both ends as described.

If the ticking is only there with the engine running, the bearing is eating its way through the clutch.

Thanks for this useful tips, i really love this forum and my first time here.
