Hey up guys I've got a little sei abarth it's done 92k it starts and drives great but has a flat spot between 2.5k - 3.5k before and after its pulls pretty well when it's in the flat zone it feels like it's holding back I've put new plugs in any ideas thanks

Have you checked that there are no leaks in the inlet manifold?

The engine could be sucking in more air than the MAP sensor thinks, affecting the mixture.

This info isn't specific to the Seicento, but something that I would check early on with most cars.

Hope this helps and good luck :)

Could be, no harm in giving the sensor on the car a clean :)

You would have thought there would be other symptoms to go with a faulty MAP sensor such as rough idling... Shame we can't do away with the electrics and go back to a carburettor when they cause us grief ;)

...a twin carb seicento might be fun! Let's ignore emissions controls!

Yeh me to the idle is a tad lumpy has a little cough every now and again but not engine shaking bad etc think a bloody good service wouldn't hurt it's got a cat back janspeed exhaust on it and I've ordered a punto 75 cam mcrich chip a gsr induction kit and magnecore leads so should he quite nippy once all is fitted

Which sensor buddy and what's the best way to clean it?

I'd give the MAP sensor a clean, it's located on the inlet manifold. Unplug it and remove from the car, give it a blast over the actual sensor with Carb Cleaner and allow to dry for a minimum of 20mins :)

If you have no joy from cleaning the MAP sensor I'd consider doing these:

- Check for air leaks in the inlet manifold
- Check the condition of the ignition leads
- Consider replacing the MAP sensor (It's a pressure sensor, so may be on it's way out)

Hope this helps :)
