 Yea yea yea! more cheap Ebay rubbish.. Yup! i'm fully aware that most of the cheap chips are rubbish & mess the engine up but what about this one? it only adds more voltage? makes the ECU kick alittle more feul into the engine..
Well? it sounds like a good idea and for the money its a nice little good looking cock pit gadget (Would be nice if it worked too).. it sez it dosn't work on diesels, not reccommended for Turbo'd cars and will work on feul injected cars (1990's +).. they also say you will need to quote make, model & year of th car.. Any help would be greatly appriciated..
Oh! i'm also not the kinda person that would kane it around maxed out all the time - lol..

Yea my mate bought one of these resistor things cos it was £2 for two so was just interested to see what it looked like and if it came with any disclaimer or anything.

Funnily enough it did come with instructions and a disclaimer. He claims 'I have an Honours Degree in Physics but I am not an Automotive Engineer. This modification is well known and has seen to work good benefits and no damage on hundreds of cars. I am selling this kit in good faith but you must decide for yourself, with the help of qualified professionals, that this modification and fitting instructions are suitable for your car."

So there he is bigging his little resistor up when he goes on to say 'Not for use on the public highway' in a smaller font. Then goes on to say 'Using this product will cause your cars engine to recieve non standard readings from the engine sensors. This may cause damage to your engine - use entirely at your own risk.'

And as he is so confident that his resistor will not damage your engine he says the above and then states all the doo-doo about him not bein responsible for any failures/complications that incur as a result of using the resistor.

Now does anyone feel like this product is a load of ****?

hee hee i like that one, yea!.. I wasn't expecting it to add up to 40bhp thats just rediculous.. I thought there might be some kinda gain, to the inexpericenced.. But no! hehe obvouisly just another So and So.. Cheerz all..

don work it tells engine air is colder than it is so it puts more petrol in to account for the higher density of the cold air (more oxygen) but there isn't more oxygen there so the extra petrol has nothing 2 react with therefore your pourin petrol into ure engine that isn't getting burnt because there isn't really the oxygen there 2 burn it if u want cold air put ure induction kit in a cf surround

Well, any heatshield will do really..CF is expensive! Just paint it silver or white or another heat reflective colour (eg: not matt black)

Extra fuel will probably wash the oil off the cylinder walls which will shorten the engine life dramatically.

My Mcrick chip puts more fuel in. I can smell it out the exhuast, hopefully not asmuch as these resistors put in?

no, because it does it properly - more fuel when its needed (does it alter the timing slightly too, not sure?)

These resistors just confuse the ECU making it overfuel for a bit, then it'll just ignore the sensor assuming that it's faulty which will make the ECU react slower to changes. You are basically poking one of the ECU's eyes out by fitting a resistor to the inlet air temp sensor.

aha! Just been out in it for a bit and i can smell fuel when it ticking over to begin with but going up long hills hard runs etc you can deffinatly smell it. So methinks your righ arc.

Also, with some unburnt fuel getting to the exhuast, is there a danger of a backfire?

yes, when i start it up from cold i cant smell anything. I have left it ticking over for 30 mins and still smelt nothing. A leak would not do this, correct? But after a drive, I can smell it.

breather pipe? the one out of the top of the cyliner head? That currently goes into my K&N?

Actually for most parts of the rev range the PowerCento chip injects less fuel as the original system is optimised for very low grade fuel and compensates by over fuelling to prevent pre-ignition. (incidently this leaning out of the mixture is also the reason for the flat spot when engine is v.cold.)

If you are smelling fuel then you probably have a leak somewhere,

Regards,

Michael
