Problem!!! Help.

Right a complicated one. When go into a right hand bend, I get a rumbling noise which seems to be coming from the rear passenger wheel. It doesn't change with speed.
Went around a roundabout on Monday at about 25mph and the back end stepped out! The roundabout had camber so it obviously was putting more stress on that wheel, it was 6 in the evening, wet and the gritters were out. Ice? Wet road? What are the P700-Z like in the wet? Got Nankangs in the front and they seems ok.
Jacked the car up yesterday and there is about 1-2mm play in the rear passenger bearing and less than 1mm in driver. Is that bad and related?
Finally the car is lowered 40mm with shorter bump stops, did the wheels hit the arch and lock up? Or did the wheel lock up due to play in the bearings interfearing with the drum shoes?
HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP!!!

Was the wife's but its mine now!!
Lowered 40mm: Its a go-kart!!!

If there's play on the wheel, bearings are shot. best get them replaced. as for the tyres, my pirelli's are crud in the wet! lowering wouldn't cause a problem like this (i may be wrong)

Wanted: Exhaust for my Cinq Sporting! PM me!

The growling is a shot wheel bearing, sometimes caused by dragging brakes that overheat the bearings. I've gone through four or five in 40K miles.
They cost around 30 and come complete with the hub, you can change them in half an hour (barring unforseen incidents!).

Doubt the wheel could have hit the arch, you'd have heard a rather unpleasant noise if it did. Lowering our cars does seem to make the back end a lot more lively, if you are trying to make it happen, tank into a corner with plenty of run-off area in the wet (say 35-40mph in 2nd) then lift the throttle sharply when the front starts to lose grip, the weight transfer front to rear and front-only braking can cause them to go sideways. Be aware, and be ready with the opposite lock!:I

Yay! Sounds like fun, going to search for a car park tonight because its raining here in Sheffield!

Only ever lost it in my dads Perodua Nippa :I I was going into this car park and didnt realise it was all iced over. It was a shrp left turn into the car park and as it was at night there wasnt many cars there so I went into it a bit quick (well, as fast as an 850cc can go!) and just did big spins, about 3 turns in all until I came to a stop.

I was hooked then, kept going out and going back in, spinning it and going sideways until I could control it. I was a bit of a pro when it came to sideways action in a Nippa then! It is well surprising how quickly the car just goes into a spin, it would catch me out if I wasnt expecting it!

Thanks for that. Done the whole lift off oversteer a few times, lift off, left foot dab on brakes, then back on the power if done properly can get it to slide in the dry. But the back end came out of nowhere the other night.
My local Motorworld quoted me 18 quid for wheel bearing but he not sure if that includes hub. Fiat (sharp intake of breath) 61!!![:(!] and 2.40 for the hub nuts. So getting them ordered from motorworld and the nuts from fiat.
How tight do I need to get the nuts when I put the new hub on. I don't have a torque wrench, but a two and a half foot powerbar driver.

It's Fcuking hailing here! I've done something similar in my previous car and literally almost shat myself!
Thing is, i was doing about 25mph into a carpark, thought "heh heh! handbrake turn!" and it was wet at the time. Flicked the steering right and yanked the handbrake... Result! Back end flicked out! what i hadn't realised was that a kerb was getting awfully close then "CRUNCH", the back wheel clipped the kerb stopping the car only to tip it onto 2 wheels, by this time i'm thinking "oh ****", and landed back on all 4. the wheels mst have gone about 1 foot in the air. Havn't done it since!
