No saw them by chance when looking at the carbon/kevlar wings for the integrale.

and no I'm not thinking of buying those either, just good to know someone has them as Lancia do not have any left.

Imagine how much lighter it would be with all panels replaced :D

yeah.. i found this company agggees ago and asked about the sump guard

Hi Mark,
thanks for the enquiry. The answer to your question is a yes
and no I'm afraid. We were commisioned to produce the guard itself which we
did and the owner of the Cinq then fabricated its mounting points. We would
be able to do the guard itself but we wouldnt be able to do the mounting
frame, the frame that was maufactured for the road rally car involved
welding a cross brace of angle iron across the front of the car under the
radiator and the strengthening up of two bumper mounts I think.
As for materials, Kevlar is the best material for the job in hand.
It has the best impact and abrasion qualities of the readily available
fibres. Carbon or glass fibre arent suitable for a sump guard and anyone who
tells you otherwise is mistaken. I think the guard itself was £95 if memory
serves as it utilised Epoxy resins and a heat cure which added to the costs.
Hope this is of help.
Ian

If you think though, its a sump guard thats 6mm thick.. its going to bring the point of contact down by 6mm. Not really a bright idea imo.

maybe so, but i dont tend to drive not in the car - so at the end of the day, it's still an extra 6mm. with no-one in the car, 6mm equates to about 10% of my ground clearance.

that is not really a practcal matrial anyway alloy or stainless is best option as it is stronger that will smah or flex and on a major hit would shatter or cave in, i want one made of adimantium or that alloy the terminator made of :D

Yep...CF and GRP taking a direct impact just causes them to shatter.

Saw my mate's CF clutch guard on his bike after it took a beating against the floor on tuesday.....

Imagine steel puncturing, then imagine bits of CF going everywhere, and thats how it fails!

These types of guard have crossed over from predominently off roading and rally motorsports where none of the cars are particularly low.

If anyone's car is scraping on the road and they are concerned then I'd raise it rather than buying a guard.
