I just had a IAM pretest today, and when I put the ignition on it sounded different! I think it's the fuel pump that made a different whine. I tried again and it was the same, so I just tried driving, and had no problems. I arrived home, and then when I went to move it a few moments later the key was lit in amber. This light didn't come on until after the engine was started though.

This light means that the keycode hadn't been recognised, and as far as I know the car shouldn't have started. Last time this happened I had a flat battery (but just about managed to start the car). I check the voltage across the battery with the engine running and it was fine (14.xV). The green lighton my battery was also showing, and it was also green a couple of hours before I had the problem.

Before the test drive I washed my car, so I suppose some water could have got in somewhere. Although after an hour of driving I would have expected the water to have evapourated. I wash my car every week and have never had the problem. When I washed the car it (the engine etc.) was slightly warm, but had been standing for around an hour.
