oh god this sounds like it gonna be difficult! ( and painfull) does the grey fiat centre cap just pull off? xxx

Yeah you should be able to prise it off. Use pressure from your knees to loosen the steering wheel (after loosening the nut) and make sure it don't smack you in the face - plenty of people have ended up in A&E with broken noses!

Oh, and make sure wheels are set DEAD STRAIGHT before removing the steering wheel!

If you bang the left than right side of the front of the steering wheel repeatedly, say five or six times each side with some force, (after removing the nut and washer), you should find it will pull staright off. (y)

I reckon there'll be a good chance of hurting yourself there, especially if you hit it hard. I would keep the retaining nut on the thread - stops the wheel from flying off.

rite stop it!! u's delibrately gonna make me hurt myself!!! so when i get the cap off will see the retaining nut that im supposed to leave slightly on then pul really hard n watch my face? xxx

Sort of. You'll have to sort the horn out - I think its only a couple of wires you need to disconnect. Loosen the retaining nut, then loosen the wheel. You could try using your knees from behind the steering wheel to apply pressure and wiggling the steering wheel.. When its loosened, undo the retaining nut all the way, and remove the steering wheel.

 ok sounds managable but more to the point is there any way i could seriously damage any thing? xxx

If you are too rough with it then you may do some damage to the steering rack, start off fairly gently then slowly increase roughness.

i put a snapp off on my cinqs, one of the best anti theft methods i know of

Removing the old wheel is the difficult job. Make sure you leave the retaining nut on a couple of turns before tugging hard at the wheel. When it comes loose the nut will stop it smacking you in the face.

Cheers

LOL! Did that one two weeks ago, bloddy hurt!

took the cap off today to see what was underneath, bolt looks easy enough but what do i do with the horn? xxx
seriously, it's such a simple job. Have you got a steering wheel boss for your new wheel??

If so, start by making sure your wheel is straight and front wheels are facing straight. Undo that bolt slightly, waggle the old wheel until it comes free, then undo that bolt and pull old wheel off. Then slide boss on and bolt it in, connect the wire coming out of your boss to the horn push and bolt the new wheel on.

These guys are making it sound soooo difficult when really it's not.
