Re: Changing Steering wheel

Removing the old wheel is the difficult job. Make sure you leave the retaining nut on a couple of turns before tugging hard at the wheel. When it comes loose the nut will stop it smacking you in the face.

Cheers

Yeah you should be able to prise it off. Use pressure from your knees to loosen the steering wheel (after loosening the nut) and make sure it don't smack you in the face - plenty of people have ended up in A&E with broken noses!

Oh, and make sure wheels are set DEAD STRAIGHT before removing the steering wheel!

Yup, centre cap pulls off. Remember the nut and it won't be painful.

Cheers

Re: Changing Steering wheel

If you bang the left than right side of the front of the steering wheel repeatedly, say five or six times each side with some force, (after removing the nut and washer), you should find it will pull staright off.

I reckon there'll be a good chance of hurting yourself there, especially if you hit it hard. I would keep the retaining nut on the thread - stops the wheel from flying off.

Re: Changing Steering wheel

Sort of. You'll have to sort the horn out - I think its only a couple of wires you need to disconnect. Loosen the retaining nut, then loosen the wheel. You could try using your knees from behind the steering wheel to apply pressure and wiggling the steering wheel.. When its loosened, undo the retaining nut all the way, and remove the steering wheel.

If you are too rough with it then you may do some damage to the steering rack, start off fairly gently then slowly increase roughness.
