I have at long last taken delivery of my new induction kit. A GSR Engineering number (see http://www.gsrengineering.com/engineering/pages/articles/fiat/fiat_fire_gsrinduction.html for details) and I have too say I am very impressed with the results.

My cinq is in every other respect exactly as it left the factory and the kit has massively improved it's drive-ability. The hesitation around the 3000rpm mark is gone, it feels much more eager at low revs, and revs on much better. All in all it has done everything I wanted it too. It isn't majorly noisy, although there is some added induction noise which makes it sound a little more fruity.

It's not cheap at just over £100 but it's very nicely finished and looks lovely. I can heartily recommend it if you've got the wedge.

Hi, I am looking to buy one of the GSR induction kits, but I can't seem to find the difference betweem the F1i and F11i Induction kits on there website, other than one costing aout £100 more?

Any ideas? Also, can you buy the induction kit from the GSR website?

Finally, does GSR induction kit cut off all the little pipes and breather hoses that go on the original airbox?

Many Thanks.

Hi there Steviecol,

Fixit is, as always bang on the money, the F11i kit is with the carbon fibre airbox. GSR claim impressive performance from this kit i.e. that it outperforms a 1242 conversion.

"CDA Induction Kit for Fiats
GSR is happy to announce the release of our latest induction kit. Based on the CDA (Carbon Dynamic Airbox) unit from BMC we have been able to produce a kit for the Fiat Cinquecento and Seicento (non-ABS models only at the moment) that outperformed a 1242cc conversion from one of our competitors! Our CDA kit was fitted to an otherwise standard Cinquecento and the owner of the 1242 wasn't too pleased when he found that out."

I don't know about the details of the comparison, but it does seem a bit rich to me.

Nevertheless I have been very impressed with the F1i kit I bought. Basically you take of the standard airbox and all the ducting that leads to the front of the car. You are left with one pipe which exits the engine next to the oil filler cap and connects to the induction kit (u will want to have a spare hose clip on you at this point as the standard one doesn't provide a very good fit). There is one other very small brown hose which in the standard setup provides vacum to the vacum operated switch which ducts warm air from over the exhaust manifold until the engine has warmed up. With the new induction kit in place it doesn't do nuffink, and should simply be covered over with some gaffer tape to stop it sucking up any s**t. As far as I am aware this is the same whatever type of induction kit you use.

yeah, peters the man to talk to, i rang him for a quote on a supersprint exhaust, and by the time i put the phone down 30 mins later, i had all the details you could want on a full 1242 conversion! hes definatly the man to talk to. v.helpful. saved me a few quid as well.

Ok, thanks for the warm welcome... :)

This is my first car so I'm not too keen on buggering the engine with a cheap or badly designed 'Induction Kit'.

I'll give GSR a ring soon see what they have to say, but it does look like the best kit around for a cinquecento sporting.

Thanks [8D]

what kinda noise does the engine have with this kit, sounds kinda silly i know - but i currently have a K&N induction kit on there. Its old,and needs cleaning/replacing - i love the noise it makes tho.

I'm thinking of replacing the k&n with one of these, has anyone heard the noise both kits make?

Can't comment on the noise the K&N makes since I've never heard one. The GSR kits produces some induction roar when it's under power but not a huge amount. Thing is you have to understand that I come from a biking backgound where induction noise comes from an airbox which is basically sitting between your legs, so no car seems particluarly noisy to me. :D

So I don't know why I bothered replying really. Since I haven't told you anything remotely useful. Sorry. :I
