As you will or will not be aware my 98 red Cinq Hi-boost turbo met an untimely death at the hands of a truck.

It is not a secret, but you have maybe to have read between the somewhat obvious lines on this forum of late too know that it is to be resurrected into the not to shabby body of an Imola Cinq that as of tomorrow will be in my ownership and not Mase's.

I hope to have it rolling soon, and in an even better state than before as when I’ve got the engine out I can tidy up some of the Van Aaken conversion. For instance the water pipe that runs at the back of the rad which is indeed close to the turbo will probably be replaced in aluminium pipe rather than rubber, the Punto GT brakes stripped down and repainted yellow, and the interior will be changed as well with some new things I've thought of doing like the central vents on the dash will be replaced with three dials for oil temp, oil pressure and turbo boost, electric window switches will be moved to door handles as I don't like where they are etc.

That’s it for now but I'll keep posting up as things progress.

Aaron.

Look forward to the updates, good luck!

I've lengthened and re-routed that very water pipe up and over the turbo, clipped on to the cam cover, then back down the other side. Tis silly where they left it, really.

You make it sound like your doing it all yourself ;)

Yes ok I confess, I do have the help of a very able and skilled Cosworth engineer to help me (read do the hard stuff my knowledge doesn't stretch to) complete the conversion.

I'll be there to generally look good and lend some muscle, lol!

And to add, I think that Mase's Imola will be the perfect car to convert into due to the vented bonnet and the 14" wheels, which will help keep things cool and accommodate, my GT brakes, plus AFAIK there are no Hi-boost Imola's out there making it unique. This really is the reason I bought it as I could have looked around and found cheaper etc but its all about timing and having a need to not wait for wheels etc as its good to go!

Aaron.

Excellent news, Aaron.

I'm certainly looking forward to seeing your new project, and it's nice that it's a bit different. I'm sure you'll make a top job of him.

Come on Aaron, you seen pics of mines and thought that really is the nicest colour for Cinq's! LOL

Great news mate, good luck with the conversion.

Sounds very good plan Aaron. (y) Ive started a very similar plan the day i got back from Donny with the dials. Going for just a vacuum and an ameter. Got the vacuum in place but not sure how im going to mould plastic for it yet though. I also have a few other plans but staying quiet till all done ;)

saw a danish sei i think with dials in air vents, thought about it but couldnt think of how to make the fittings for the gauges unfortunately  at the moment i just have my boost gauge on the corner of the passenger side dash, bit hard to see  other option would be to go for something like pete/ian have and have a dial holder in the centre console, so much to do so little time :D

Good luck with the conversion aaron, sounds like its going to be a very very tidy job by the time your done with it :D
