Folks,

help needed.

checking car out for NCT (irish MOT) and the hazard lights are not working....

indicators work fine, no fuses blown power accross fuse for hazards, but if you put the switch on for the hazards the indicators also stop???

Could this be something to do with the relay unit or is it the switch itself?

Any help appreciated cos its beginning to p*** me off now!

thanks

petew

Thanks fixagaintommorrow,

replaced the relay, its not that. All fuses are ok. so it must be the switch... ordered one today from friendly dealer so lets hope its that.

thanks for the welcome..

Hello Im having the same problem with my warning hazard lights, with my fiat cinqcento when i switch them on, they dont work, neither do my intercators, but when i switch the hazards off the intercators work. the fuses are fine, replacd the warning hazard switch but that doesnt seem to work either

if any 1 could please help me with this please replay before 3.00pm ( got mot )

thanks again lawrence

I had this same problem

The cause was when I fitted my stereo, I had disconnected the power (purple) wire from where it is sourced at the back of the HU.

Try running a live wire from the battery + to the Purple wire on the back of the hazard switch. If that works then you know the cause.

Even if the hazard light switch has no power, turning it on will cause the indicators to stop working.

hope that helps

EDIT: if that is the cause, splice a wire on to the red wire at the back of the stereo and run it to the back of the Hazard switch - just until the MOT is over and you can make a permanent repair.

thanks ill have a look, but what is the HU pleaes mate

thanks lawrence

Hi there y'all!

Sorry to hijack this thread but I'm having a similar problem. I had to salvage a FIAT ISO connector from a scrapyard and connect it to the remaining wires with some block connectors. I accidentally crossed the white/black and pink/black wires when doing so causing the radio to turn on and off and on again a few times before finally not turning on at all.

I have since got the wires connected properly but the radio still does not work. As a result neither do the hazard lights, oh and the clock hasn't worked for a while but did come on randomly for a while then did not turn on the next time i started the car.

I'm going to try reconnecting a good + power supply form somewhere else in the car, but I'd like to know where a good place to take one and still have the fuse protection would be? Ideally I'd just like to replace the faulty wire(s) that have caused this trouble. Is this possible, woudl it work and where would I find the origin of the purple wire that has been refered to so many times? Is it at the battery and is it as simple as just routing a new wire from there through to the HU etc?

Many thanks,

Al.

The indicators still work but turn off when the hazard light switch is pressed on, identical to original problem posted at the top of this thread.

Can I try any latching switch from the dash or does it have to be a hazard light switch?

Will that solve the radio problem too? I've got a donor cinq I'm going to test things with over new year as I'm going home for a week over xmas. Thanks for your help so far
.

OK, i've tested it with another switch so it's not that. I want to have a look at the earth points next. From Haynes I can gather it's E2 and E6 I should be checking, probably E2 more so. Could someone tell me where in the engine bay I'd find these points? Cheers.

Ive had a bit of trouble with mine just lately goin over bumps or just driving around not too sure but my indicators just go off and i have to nudge the fuse a little for it too work really starting to annoy me the electrics at the back are all fine so maybe it could just be the fuse?
