hiya, just wanted to ask if a 1999 sei sporting abarth should go more than 80mph lol as mine wont get past this mark.... im servicing it sometime this week so may see a little improvement... any ideas on how to tune it to get a bit more speed out of it, apart from the usual... e.g back box and k&n...... Oh and strangely i noticed that my VIN number ends in 666..... no wounder im having all this trouble

well my cento is good for 25mph more than that at least!!! so 80 does seem slow

could be a problem with the lambda or map sensor but i dont know enough about that to say for sure.

u could change the leads, coils, plugs and filters to c if that helps.

tuning wise, loads of people rave about mckrich's chip, then of course u are lookin at a 40mm tb, cylinder head work, hot cam, uprated manifold etc etc.

Nice post mase, give yourself some rep :p

Does the car feel slugish at all? How well does it idle? Has the car always been this way?

Also, does it feel as if the car is limited to a certain RPM in 4th/5th? Mine went like this, although the problem has disappearer now. The fault is with the MAP sensor.

It is likely to be the MAP or lambda, so is worth checking them two things out first. (as mase said (y) )

Either way, It maybe benfeficial to the car if you add some fuel injection cleaner to the car (redex fuel injection cleaner for petrol's is good)

There is a member on here selling a map on ebay, was going for something like a quid last night. It is this member - https://www.fiatforum.com/member.php?userid=10369 (y)

If it helps, I paid £10 for a MAP sensor yesterday at my scrappies.

cheers man (y)

cov, tip for u, check the tubing running from the map sensor to the throttle body, these are prone to splitting, and a split map sensor hose will do all sort of strange things to your fuel pressure causin the car to run strange.

i think it is 5mm hosing, halfrauds sell it in different colours, a red one would look good in your engine bay, might be worth havin a look at that first! always change the cheapest bit first (y)

the car does feel crap to drive, revs ok and the idle seems a tad fast.... but accelerates a bit slow, really have to have it around 5grands worth of revs to get it pulling good... then 80mph... bang, no more acceleration GRRRR
ive got new plugs, magnatec, filters tec to fit.. thinking of rolling road???

a rolling road wouldnt be much good.... unless the guy could run a diagnostic afterwards

if u dont want to mess with the lambda or map sensors, u could get an ECU diagnostic test done, that will show if the ECU has logged any errors, and dependin on if there are, and what the errors are, u will prob be able to find out what exactly is wrong.

it isnt cheap tho, have a look in the yellow pages and make a few calls, dont even think about goin to FIAT unless u want to sell a kidney.

A friend at work told me his mate has just bought a punto and that struggles to get over 80mph!!

I think you should go for a dump before you set off, that will add an extra few mph :D :p
