Technical Suspension bushes

Here for example. Hardest bits are dismanting the rear suspension and removing the old sleeve for the bush.

But I always burn them out -- a thick metal pot, some scrap wood, a little paraffin, and let the fire do the work.

An easy weekend's work -- including painting the old ones.

If you use polyurethane replacements you don't need a press to fit the new ones.

Start by coating all the nuts and bolts with GT85/PlusGas at least a week beforehand. Repeat daily.

Likely hitches -- sometimes the damper bolts will snap -- eurocarcare.net have replacements -- sometimes (if you strip the arm completely) the wheel bearing/hub will fall to bits (replace!) -- use proper brake spanners on the brake hoses (although these will sometimes snap -- penetrating oil on the connectors recommended).

If it's of any interest I had my local garage fit my new Polyflex bushes, new springs and shocks and they charged me £90 + vat (£108 inc) for the labour which is 3 hours work. Main drawback of having it done at the garage is that I didn't get the chance to clean and paint the arms, axle etc and under the car.
Couldn't be avoided though at the moment.

The car is transformed though. Handling is better and noise levels have dropped considerably.

its a really easy job to do yourself, I did the guide and I was a real noob.
if I can do it anyone can.
a lot of people do burn them out but the smoke is horrid, either way you'll be left with the collars to remove, but the hacksaw method gets it done, just be careful.
when I did mine, I went the extra mile and took the rear beam off and refurbished it, only 4 bolts and a fuel tank to remove (I replaced the tank too)

it's one of those job that you might as well replace the following and don't be put off as they are all cheap!

- Rear brake cylinder and shoes - £30
- Rear hard brake pipe and rubber pipe - £20
- rear wheel bearing - £50
- Paint - Any anti-rust paint (Not underseal) - £10

It is well worth doing all of the above!

Personally when I did mine I didn't even undo the brake pipes, I just carefully cut a little slot in the flexi brackets on the arms and left the shoes/back plates hanging
