I'm intending on fabricating my own engine stand for my tiny 899cc lump. I've never used an engine stand before so how do they bolt on? I've Googled for pic's and from what ive seen they use the mounting point's for the gearbox's bell housing. However ive seen others that look to be mounted on either side of the block. So where can i mount to on my engine? Would it just be the bell housing bolts? The ones on the side do they actually bolt to anything or just rest against the block?

Thanks all Stephen.

Great stuff thanks. Forgot to subscribe to the thread, for some reason it doesn't automatically when i post. Sadly ive had to sell some of my old stereos to fund it but ill be welder shopping soon, then the mischief can begin :)

Here is my 1108 engine in my engine stand for reference.

For the cost of an engine stand, you would be better of buying one rather than making one, I think mine only cost £30.

As fingers said avoid cheap mig welders (and gassless), the Clarke stuff is a good place to start, it's what I use to do my stuff with and have no problems at all.
