If your getting or thinking of getting a sub box, if you can, try as many different boxes out as possible. I have been using a Pioneer TS-30wc (or something...) for a while now with a ported box. I had heard that the way to check if you were using a box that was too big was to run a bass test tone and if the sub flaps then its too big. Tried this and sure enough, my sub flapped! Went to Halfrauds to get a sealed box (actuallt the same price as everywhere else...not 100% mark up!) Fitted it all (and added some wadding) and was shocked at the differenc it made! The bass has transformed totally, no longer gets lost in a fast bass or drum section, it can keep up totally and makes my eyes wobble like never before!
So.. If you can, try loads of boxes out and you will be surprised at the difference it can make.
