Off Topic panda panda goes a bit cinqy

think it must be a typo lol...

back to the window switches, can't find the post but i am 99.9% sure it is J333EVO old imola blue abarth turbo that had moved them from the centre to the door, can't for the life of me find the posts about it though.

pretty sure fingers99 still has that car so maybe he has a few pics of it...

No pics (an advanced search for J333EVO window switches might throw something up). But it's doable. Big problem is that the set up in the Centos isn't very sophisticated -- really you need a passenger and driver switch on one side, a passenger switch on the other, or you'll be reaching past the passenger to get to the switch. OK, that might be an advantage in some circumstances, but......... ;)

The reverse detente is something you get used to. On Cinqs it's (relatively) difficult to do away with -- maybe a gear selector cover from a Sei Sporting? -- on the Seis, easy peasy.

Just think of it as a well assembled aerodynamic smaller curvier Panda with doors that wont rot after a single rainfall. OMG I', going to get flamed for this LOL.

I think the cinq is more of a mini-me to the Y10.

y10's, cinqs, pandas - why can we not just be one big happy family....

...but I thought we already were?

Had cinqy out for an extended test drive today on a mix of A and B roads literally uphill and down dale. Had one passenger up and a very tempremental smartphone sat nav for guidance.

Stumbled upon one of the best driving roads I've every encountered relatively traffic free apart from homicidal white van drivers - wish I had a dash cam, never seen such shocking driving - which will now form part of my "let's see how this car can drive routes".

I can't praise little cinqy enough, pulled well uphill - despite some dodgy gear selection on my part - and held on in corners more than I thought it could.
Whether it's the "Italian tune up" it's had or my confidence in the car, it seems to be a totally different car from the one I drove home on Friday, and that was sweet enough!

Performance wise it has to be the most fun I've had in a Fiat since test driving a mk3 100hp panda but at 10 times less the price.

The tardis like cabin also impressed - no cold shoulder from leaning against the door and nicely supportive seats, very little wind noise compared to the mk2 panda only marred by rumbling/drumming from the rear.

Bought as a stop gap car whilst my Y10 and 4x4 get road worthy I feel cinqy will be a welcome addition to my collection of Italian tatt for a long while (or at least until MOT time) :p

Having owned both a Panda and Cinqs, I'd say the Cinq is more fun to chuck about and better for modding but the Panda feels more special. Probably due to them being so rare now but they also have a humble honesty to them, even more so than a basic Cinq. True proletariat motoring! I'd say Fiat got both cars spot on, perfect examples of what they do best. I plan on buying another Panda at somepoint to keep my Cinq company.

Sounds like you've got an awesome little car collection, very jealous!

The intermittent washer jet motor finally became a permanently off so after a bit of digging around on here to locate it I had the wheel and arch liner off tonight to have a butchers.

The rear makes a noise but won't pump water through, I suspect the little valve in the engine bay needs replacing.

The motor for the front isn't giving a continuity reading so the coil has gone.

The item themselves are identical to ones fitted to classic panda's apart from the plastic assembly being mounted another 90 degrees round from the coil:bang: I'm hoping my local scrappy still has the LHD cinq in there with at least one decent coil. Will find out tomorrow!

Apart from that niggle I'm really enjoying cinqy and everything underneath looks very good apart from the front shockers rubber gaiter is in several pieces. There is a little bubbling of the paint on the bottom of the wheel arches but it's not broken through the paint yet amazing for a 19 ear old fiat!

Only other annoyance apart from the pink bumpers and naff laquer on the door mirrors is a crack on the corner of the front bumper, I may attempt a bit of glueing shortly ;)

they aren't without there rust issues cinqs but they aren't anything like a panda when it comes to rust - they are totally galvanised so last pretty well. Rear inner arches are the weak point though.

Have to say, they are actually good for rust when you compare them to other cars of the period, even to much more expensive cars. Rear inner arches are really their only weak point as such.

Have a mate that laughs at my "rustbucket italians" who weirdly has shut up about rust since his last 2 cars have failed mot's due to corrosion and my cinq is still pretty much rock solid underneath :D

But compare bubbly arches and inner rear arch rot to the same age of Fiesta or Corsa (as an example, that could be extended to as many 90's cars as you want, even from sectors above tbh), who's floorpans, arches, doors, sills, bootlids etc have all been eaten away.

My front wing is shot, but that's a clear pattern part going by the overspray that was on headlights, the bent bumper mount a few missing bolts. The fact the pattern wings go long before the originals shows that they aren't too bad from factory, probably much closer to the best in terms of rust than the worst of the time!

A visit to the local scrappy produced a sei washer motor, 2 pairs of clear side repeaters and a couple of spare wheel arch fixings (y)

I pushed the boat out and bought a couple of inline valves - which cost as much as the scrappy bits.

Anyway, I fitted the sei washer pump (blocking off the extra feed with a short piece of tubing and a non return valve reversed) and after a bit of sucking and swapping of hoses finally got the front washers working again.
The rear washer then decided to pump but not spray water, after replacing another inline valve and a lot more sucking (glad I used fresh water but shouldn't have added the screen wash :yuck:) Cinqy has two functioning everytime you press the button washers!

Last week I went into my local motor factors for some proper G3 cutting compound but they were out of stock. In desperation I went to Halfords and found they had a range of "G3" detailing gear on 3 for 2. I bought a clay bar, paint restorer, detailing spray and a pack of waffle pads.

I clayed (using the detailing spray as lube) and apart from the nice foam holder for the bar didn't really think it was an improvement on the bilt hamber one I've used before.
The paint restorer (using the waffle pads as directed) was a real disappointment, practically no cutting ability (though this was improved when using stockinette instead) and left the pinky patches on the paint work I was trying to remove.

Yesterday I used the real deal in a yellow bottle G3 with stockinette and what a brilliant product that is, instantly taking off the faded paint.
Followed by AG SRP and topped off with AG extra gloss protection I now have a really shiny cinqy (y) :D

And the side repeaters were changed too:

Thought I might get some black mirrors of the scrappy sei.

I've seen new black bumpers for a reasonable price too.

Just leaves the cracked rear light to sort.

alfa spares out sherburn way i am told often has cinq's in ;) In general you can use sei's for spares but things like rear lights obviously you can't.

I'd just rub your wing mirrors back and paint them black if you would like black ones, for me i think the sei ones are too roundy for a cinq
