Hey I have a 1.1 Cinq Sporting. At the moment I am mis firing on a Cylinder. I have tried everything to stop it, replaced the spark leads, and fed the engine fuel injector cleaner. However the cylinder still mis-fires. A friend told me that it could be the spark plugs. When I switch the engine on a light on the dashboard that looks like a spark plug lights up for about three seconds and goes off after all the other display lights? Does this mean the car needs new spark plugs as i do not have the car's manual, and would this be the mis-firing problem? Please HELP!!!!!

You'll find it maybe the injector light. Cento's don't have a "washers light".

T'is normal for the light to go off, try swapping no 1 plug lead to a different plug and see if it misses there, this will diagnose dodgy leads.

same happened wid me. it was a coil pack had went. cost me £15 from scrap yard. it is wot the HT leads are connected to. Not the spark plugs.

Tis definately the ECU Warning light. It comes on for 4 secs at startup then goes out.

Odds are the coil pack is knackered. If the light stays on, Id fcheck all the HT connections (hold the plug lead near the block with some INSULATED pliers - trust me, 10kV in the arm is a bit odd.., - and look for a spark.). Check all plugs work, then try swapping things over (only whilst cranking the engine, cos it wont idle on 2 cylinders!)

Cheers everyone thanks for all the good advice. Is the coil pack an ignition coil on my cinq?

I have bought a Lucas ignition coil, is it just a case of taking out the old ignition coil and replacing it with the new, or is there a specific way of replacing the coil?

thanks James

yes i went to halfords and got the coil that is specifically used in the cinq sporting 1.1

i replaced one of the ignition coils however i tried the new one in both places of the old ignition coils, however the cylinder still mis-fires. Somebody told me that it could be the amplifier? what the hell is that?

I changed the plugs in april so they aren't that old believe or not. So i dont know whats wrong with it?
