Couple of quick questions re: the Water/Coolant pump

Should it spin freely when the timing belt isn't on?

What sealant is recommended when attatching it back onto the block?

Cheers in advance

well i did mine the friday before stanford !! yeah ment to spin free if it feels roungh its f**ked . i got mine for 23 squid (y) took about hour n half to fit u notice the car runs alot cooler in long distance runs ! if u what some pics u got my email mate !!
Adz...

Cheers for that bud. The one I have runs freely but it doesn't spin, if ya get me. I was sorta expecting it to spin and continue for longer than it does. I don't wanna fork out for a new one if the one I have is fine

There will be a little resistance to movement, it won't spin like an alternator. As said up there, if it's not rough to turn and ain't leaking, you'll be ok.

James and I used Instant Gasket - worked fine.

Thanks a lot Pete. On the ball once again :)

I won't bother replacing. It all seems to look ok. Got my new timing belt today. So all is set to have the engine back up and running shortly :)
