I'm hoping someone can help - my cinq sporting is juddering and I have changed the spark plugs so it isn't that. On my last cinq I had some juddering but I also had loss of power and that was the twin spark coil pack, but this time there is no loss of power, just a juddering as though the petrol is about to run out (there is petrol in it!!!). Any ideas???

Usual suspects are the map and lambda sensors. Check the pipe to the map sensor is clear and there's no slits in, also check to see if you've had a replacement lambda sensor - if the connections aren't waterproof then it can cause bother.

Could be plug leads too, I had one shorting out a little while back which made it stutter.

Hi
I`d go with plug leads,i had a set of bosch pack up after 3 months.Car was missing really badly and after popping the bonnet with the engine running you could hear a deffinate arcing noise, removed the lead and found a slight pin hole in the outer casing
Cheers

Cheers guys!!! Can't hear any difference in the engine. Haven't got a clue what a map sensor or lambda sensor is - or where to find it - I will look it up in the manual. Don't suppose you know anything about Vectras as well do you? (y)

We can but try, ask away!

The map sensor is behind the ecu, look for a triangular-ish metal bracket at the back right hand side of the engine bay. There will be a black nylon pipe attached, this is the bit to look at.

Lambda is in the exhaust front pipem trace the wiring back and look for any joins. Be careful and do it when the engine's cold as we wouldn't want you to get burned - trust me, it bloody hurts off the exhaust!

What's the matter with the Vectra?

My nephew's Vectra has a problem with the passenger door. It wouldn't open from inside or out, so he tried putting something down near the window and ended up smashing the window. Door catch still won't work. He also needs to know if a Cavalier window would fit the Vectra. Thanks 'Fixit', glad you told me where to look cos I don't know what the ecu is either. I know nothing about cars - if I put the key in the ignition, turn it (y) and it starts then job done!!!

Do what Liam says and take off doorcard. Try to open the lock from there. You might want to get a complete deadlock assembly from a breakers - IIRC there is no keyhole on the front passenger door, and definately no keyhole in the rear passenger door, so you don't need to worry about having a second key.

Had cambelt changed today and asked them to sort out the juddering. They cleaned up some pulley or other (near the crank I think - could have been talking Latin for all I understood!!!). The mechanic used to work for Fiat so he seemed to know what he was doing and so far so good - no more stutter. Car running much smoother now. (y)
