Cinquecento windshield wiper motor/mechanism

Hey guys,

Fiat Cinquecento 1995

My english is not so good but I try to describe the problem.

My old windshield wiper mechanism and motor where jammed. So I got a "new" one from the car-breaker.

Now the problem is that the wipers stop way too high on my windshield.

If the wipers go back down, they first go up again (2-3 inches) before they stop.

If I disconnect the wipers from the rods and put them on the good zero point then they first go over the window rubber.

Did i get the wrong wiper motor/mechanism?

You have the right mechanism.

What you need to do, in this order, is:

Remove the wiper blades from the spindles

Remove the arm from the motor

Cycle the motor until it self parks, noting which way the motor spins

Position the arm on the motor so that the small arm is directly in line with the large arm

Cycle the motor and make sure the spindles turn to send the arms up the screen (do not have the arms on at this point)

If it moves the correct way, fit the arms, if it moves the wrong way move the small motor arm through 180 degrees and retry.

Cheers

Thanks rallycinq for the very quick answer!

I made a picture of the mechanism when i bought it.
The little arm (directly on the motor) has to be in line with the next longer arm.

I will try it in the afternoon!
