Am having trouble getting the car to pass 4.5k

Once its at 4k it starts to splutter and wont go above

Ive had the battery off a few times is the ecu learning ?

Is the management light on ?

What fuel pump have you got ?

no management light

i have a 3bar in line pump

its a universal jobbie

theres not alot of fuel in it i might add

That could be it. why you using an inline pump just out of interest ?

Need more details of the ECU, fuelling set up, etc.

just had a spare one in the garage and thought id put it to good use

I'd be inclined to use the innards out of a higher pressure, higher volume internal type pump. New inserts are only £70 or so, or a coupe one should do fine.

Do check the filter, including which way round it is!

it is using a return system

same setup as standard however instead of a integral pump im using an inline

i will be getting the smaller one that goes inside its just easier

il have to check the ecu for faults tomorrow it had some stored from before
when i had injector trouble

so ive cleared them then ran it for a few mins at idle few times revving it up til it splutters so i have an idea of whats wrong

if theres no faults

then its gonna be fuel (this cannot be scanned for faults obviously , apart from injectors)

i have one error being the evap valve

would this cause this?

Maybe. Make sure the solenoid is hooked up.

Does sound like fuelling, though.

what if i dont want to run a canister though?

You can junk the canister as long as the solenoid is connected. Otherwise, the ECU will just throw a wobbly.

Or, keep it and see if you can stuff it under the passenger side wing (which is where the Sei ones live).

It might be possible to fool the ECU into thinking it's still there with a resistor. Seicento Technical Manual may have nominal values to be used in testing. which you can use to cheat.

I did't need this in mine. But I have got this from reddy if you want to fool the punto mk1 16v ecu.



To quote "It is just a resister which appears to the ecu as a valve. For a some seconds the resistor will be energised and giving off 5 Watts of heat, ecu then turns it off for duration of journey. Easily fitted externally to ecu."
