Hiya peeps, just curious, is it possible to fit a turbo to a 1242? i was looking at the van aaken turbo conversion kit for the 1.2 I got a friend who is manager of a turbo company (unfortunatly they dont do conversions anymore) but he said he would fit it for me if i wanted.
Was just wondering if it is possible?
cheers

bloody el firewarrior you go from 899 to 1242 and you still want more power?

If your mate can do turbos ask him very nicely to make a conversion from scratch as it seems pointless paying big money (£1200 iirc) getting a full kit from van aaken and then getting a proffesional to fit a kit and yes as said above Pete brought a low boost 1108 cinq sporting so he got a 1242 engine and transfered all the turbo bits onto the 1242 as their the same engine

Of course you can Matty, a common mistake many people make when tuning a turbo car is to just wack up the boost, hope for the best, and bang head gasket goes or turbo goes taking out the engine as it spits blades into it, this is how cave men did it, you should treat a turbo car as a N/A car when tuning so therefore cam, head work, TB, exhaust etc will all give bigger benefits to a turbo car than to an N/A car as turbo cars rely on the breathing more than a N/A car does due to them compressing the air. THen you can start to play with the boost levels!

Turbo engines can't have cams with valve overlap though, that's one of many differences from na engines. You should follow the same principle but not necessarily the same parts.
