Hi am doing more or less my first mechanical diy job on my cinq sporting with an oil and filter change but i don't know the size of replacement washer i need for the sump plug. Can i get it from some place like B&Q or Ricambio(local to me). Can somebody give me the measurements and also what size ratchet wrench to use on the sump plug. Many thanks.

Its not got a washer. Thats Haynes being confusing.

IIRC, its a 12mm key. Will dig mine out and confirm.

Ah ok because haynes says "after all oil has drained, wipe off the drain plug with a clean rag, and fit a new sealing washer; don't reuse the old one it will probably leak." Just want to change the oil and get it run in going up to stanford.

Yeah there's no washer - just the sump plug. It's either 12 or 13mm, but I got a feeling I used a 13mm key.

Silly question but which way round does the the plug have to be turned to undo? It's real tight and won't budge.

damm, plug almost seems welded even with penetrating oil isn't budging :(

dude... took me 5 hours to change the oil on mine the first time i did it cause it took so long to get the sump plug undone.

they arent welded haha, just very very tightly done up, especially if u are the first to try an undo it.

stick the car on axle stands on both front wheels, open the drivers door, lie under the car holding onto the door sill, kick the wrench with your foot.

or get a hammer an take a hammer to the wrench, just make sure u get out of the way when it goes cause u could get oil everywhere!!!

the kicking one worked for me!

Pulse your allen - hehe Not **** it with a hammer but maybe tap it with a soft hammer be careful not to Round anything off.. thats what i did.. ^^ omg.. my Oil filter was a bitch to get off - Hehe, One hour of a Grrt red face and pleantiful swearing and Ah! Wvalla! just takes a bitta time..

Damm hard work but plenty of braced tugging and the plugs out and new oil/filter's in (y) . Covered the plug in grease so hopefully not have to suffer the same prob. Odd thing is the new filter is half the length of old one but seems to be working fine enough.
