So still wondering if my seicento is using to much fuel no leaks and I understand the mpi is batch injection therefore not so good when siting in traffic so I get about 30 miles per mark on the mk2 dash so just wondering what you guys get on a full or half tank ? Oh yeh I cruise in 4th nearly everywhere and had full service

you are in wrong gear for me if you "cruise about nearly everywhere" in the gear you are in

you should be in top gear as quick as possible when conditions allow if you want to cruise about and get a better mpg

I'm in youkshire so hills and bends so I find 4th the most common gear for me saying that on motorway in 5th cruising about 65 to 70 so think may brim the tank and reset trip counter don't really do short jurnies over 10 miles in one go is the norm and I do drive quite enthustiasticaly :p

I get about 30 miles per mark on the mk2 dash

But the marks on the dash, due to the crudity of the device measuring fuel level and the shape of the tank are not equal. Fill the car up and you'll be amazed at how economical it appears to be until you get below the first mark.

The guage is only accurate when the tank is full or empty. In between, it's guessing. Fill up and see how far you get till the engine dies. (Carry some spare fuel in a can for the last part of the journey).

No need to run out of fuel. Fill tank, note mileage.

Drive 100 miles or so.

Refill tank, not mileage.

Do calculation.

Check tank seam for dampness

Report back.

Cheers

use fuelly...
don't run the tank into reserve light on Fiat does not recommend
40 to 60 mpg note the 60 is London to Glasgow at 60 mph on M way

Last time I did a fuel check our 899 Sei was doing 58MPG. That was on a 150 mile motorway run though.

Ian.

Just got over 1/4 tank left, and my Cinq has just done over 230 miles...probably squeeze 240-250 by the time it reaches the 1/4 mark.. and that's with the tuned engine and majority town driving. If I were to drive to try to save fuel....I could probably get at least 300 from 3/4 tank.

or stick a turbo on your sei, 200 miles is about my sei's limit. But thats only on long constant speed trip it can do that, pretty sure you could empty it from full in under 100 miles

Couldn't comment on mpi vs spi to drive, never been in a mpi as the spi is clearly much cooler, and the sporting bumper looks so much more italian than the mpi bumper. It a no brainer to me :p

I get 55 mpg average on my 50 mile per day trip but it country road and motorway, thats in a sei 1.1 mpi and im hoping to beat 60 this afternoon when i do 150 miles mainly on motorway
