Agreed on the speeding up, My Bravo is no less economical getting up to speed quickly, but thats a Turbo Diesel, small NA petrols seem to do better with gradual acceleration.

I dont begrudge these individuals doing what they are doing driving wise though let me add, and some its probably necessary to be a bit more economical - for example a delivery driver or a travelling salesman or those that do 20/30k a year in the car
Glad you summed it up with the last section, if only doing 5-10k a year I probably wouldn't being so MPG focused, but when doing 20-25k a year, a few saved on each journey soon adds up.

Re: what range can you guys get in your cento ?

On long journeys I tend to set out with the intention of getting good mpg but end up thrashing it anyway

The economy doesn't seem to be affected either way. Would be nice to get 300 miles from a tank but lifes to short to worry about it.

Re: what range can you guys get in your cento ?

been such a long time since i drove a small NA car regularly, got 4 car and they all have turbo's . Did drive Eklipze3k's sei around for a while but it had a jammed open thermostat at the time and and so never really warmed up and used loads of fuel. It was actually not far off using the same amount of fuel as the turbo sei does - now there is an arguement for looking after your car if ever there was one!

Re: what range can you guys get in your cento ?

Personally, I drive normally with little concern for MPG on my daily commute, its only 16miles so trying to better my MPG doesn't save much, however every weekend I do a 60 mile motorway journey, on these journeys I try to stick to around 60 - 65, save myself a few quid over time, plus I'm in no rush, engine quieter too

That is just telling you to refuel before you run out.
Some people clearly need to be told that...!

No in my handbook it says 'recommend' it does not say 'you can only use' further it quotes the specifications as well as the recommended brands variants so clearly a free choice if you done want or cannot obtain..

You have a different handbook from me perhaps?

Please read the handbook more carefully.

Low fuel levels is one thing -- though it's difficult to see how that can damage a cat. When the red light comes on you'll have enough fuel for at least 30 miles.

In periods of extreme poverty I've had the red light on for very lengthy periods, without any issues (apart from running out when I got over ambitious!).

The T5 managed 39mpg today -- mainly motorway, but a few excursions in Manchester (and I thought the roads in Liverpool were bad!) and the pool. Unable to investigate Milton Keynes and the M1, but we'd probably have been done several times.

I did a 50 mile motorway journey on the red light in my GP once. For days I would drive on the red light too, I once ran out of petrol but fortunately it was as I rolled into the petrol station. Never had any issues ever. The way I see it, using the 'red light portion' of your tank is just the same as using any other bit, if you know how long it lasts then there isn't a problem.

Think id give old pepo a heart attack/stroke/both as ive run mine with the computer displaying 0 miles in the tank

Pepo - you should live a little and dont lead your life through the manual, be a devil and let it run to a quarter of a tank left
