Hi all, my 1998 sei sx 0,9cc has just started to idle lumpy and stall when warm, when cooled down its fine, just noticed that the coolant temp sensor on the thermostat housing is slightly leaking coolants, and it is also furring up with green mush. Ya think this will be cause of the problemo??

thankyou all:eek:

the electrical contacts need to be clean otherwise the ECU will see a false resistance.

the sensor may be ok

try removing connector and spraying WD40 into connector and unto sensor connections leave overnight connect in am .

if it is ok you need to fix the leak and remove galling but don't need a new sensor

Thanks for reply, does the connector just pull off, or is there a clip or spring to release first? tried pulling it off (the connector that Is) but was mega tight and didnt want to pull to hard in case i fooked it up.

ok, i got the connector off, when its off car idles n runs fine but obviously eml light is on, when connected again it starts to run lumpy. is it safe to drive with it disconnected? untill i get a new one

I'd not -- it will overfuel which does the engine no good at all and may injure the poor old CAT. Your local scrappy will probably have one which will work (pretty sure the same part on early Sei, Cinq Sporting, Punto 55 and 60), or Big Mick at eurocarcare in Derby (Google will find) will be able to get you one Monday or Tuesday if you get on the site tonight or ring him tomorrow morning.

Mention the forum and you may even get a discount! ;)
