Anyone else with a 1242 now found the car has no limiter?

Mine will just keep reving!

And that's before i've put the Mcrich chip in

Mine has the limiter still. Its set at the 1108 limit tho not the 1242.

What does yours rev to gex?

Tom- As i said on msn I once had revs to max and still kept going

If you haven't changed the ecu, it should still cut out where it did before - which should be between 6800-7200 depending on the accuracy of the rev counter.

1242 engines are limited to 6500 revs in the Punto 60, you may want to bear this in mind

Not true..

The limiter in my Punto 60 box is programmed to 6800 rpm.
My limiter can be moved up electronicly to max 7200 - if I wish to get higher revs i need to get a new steeringbox cause it can not be done on the original box.

Is that in the standard Fiat ecu?

Hi

Yes, it's the original ECU
You can get a higher limiter by replacing the original ECU and then program the new one to a higher limit.

A friend has a 1242 cinq with a Punto 60 ecu, his cuts at an indicated 6500 - but it seems the rev counters vary from car to car. Of my 2 1108s, one cut at 6900 and the other at 7200.

So it's supposed to be 7000 for the 1108?

So far I know, the 1108 and the 1242 cuts out at 6800 rpm.

I must say I'm getting in doubt here...

ive hit the limiter in my 899 it was just over 7000 revs in first gear, this reading was on my sei sporting rev couter which i believe to be quite accurate
