Have changed the clutch cable for the 2nd time in 6 weeks on my fiat seicento (& 3 months before that). I know that there's a problem with the clutch cable which fiat deny. It's easy enough to do but very fiddly & time-consuming. Am going to saw the bottom part of the dashboard off so I can get easier access.

This is the problem I've got now: I managed to thread the cable through and put the split-pin in, but on pressing the peddle, the triangle shape white plastic thingy has snapped (see attached picture). I need to get a new one, but where can I get one, what is it called, how is it attached, and how easy is it to fit? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ta!

There's not a problem with the cable it's your clutch it should be feather light and now it's probably too heavy hence the cables snapping so a new 3 piece clutch kit should go on or youl snap many more cables That white triangle is the quadrant I'm pretty sure either shop4parts or eurocarcare should have it. Or alternatively make a new one out of plate won't snap then. Easy easy to fit I think it's also a split pin

In 99% of cases, clutch cable failure is a symptom of a failed clutch (and/or knackered bushes on the clutch arm). You've got through 3 clutch cables and a quadrant...........

Access -- (a couple of tricks by young Rallycinq) -- is easier if you remove the passenger seat (4 allen screws) and raise the back endge of the dash by using a peice of wood as a wedge to hold it up. Next time I do one I'll fix that bloody servo cover on with velcro.
