Ok, so it's buggered. Don't know how or why but the stupid thing now won't attach to the subframe and keeps flipping forward (plus I'm sure it's not completely safe when daughter child is sitting on it either).

I thought (for some reason) the rubber doofers had gone a bit stooooopid, so took them out and it still won't fasten down.

The hooks on the bottom of the seat are now nowhere near the loop thing on the subframe bit attached to the floor of the car (if that makes sense).

If you sit on the seat and try to force it down, the hooks are way off line.
Nothing has happened to it so can't see how it's suddenly gone stupid.

I've tried hammering the loop on the floor both ways but it still won't catch. There's nothing underneath the seat stopping it from going down.

Stumped.

Any ideas?

P.S. They're standard sporting seats if that makes a difference.

Id buy a new sporting seat!!! Saves all the messing around, and it will b easy to get one :)

yeha ive got afull sporting interior... it might have some spiders in it tho :) been in the garage for atleast 5 months :)... prob fine though, theyve been under sheets.

passenger seat doesnt have a bar to mor it backwards and forwards tho but it can be moved if u know where to press.. is in great condition otherwise.. same with drivers and back seats

I have a full sporting interior but i'm using it so you can't have it.

On a serious note, I had the same prob with my SX on the drivers seat. I modified it with a cut wire coathanger used as a latch. It is quite simple but takes thought to get it right. Wish I had a photo to show you.

Has that gone already Carla?!

I'm busy this week but I can sure have a look at it for ya next week?

Yeah that would be cool, ta :)

Thought it might have been the cable that's attached to the lifty up handle thing but it appears to be ok. Plus the loop things on the floor are all worn away where the hooks have been rubbing !!!

Don't want no seats with spiders in thank you........had enough with the beast from hell that appeared in Fred the shed that time !!!!

I had the exact same problem on my passenger seat of my car. Firstly put the rubber bits back on where you found them, nothing to do with the problem as to why it’s not locking down. Right here goes...If you lift the seat up, as if you were wanting to gain access to the rear of the car, you will notice that behind the seat (looking from the rear seat view) under the seat their is a black round bar which goes from the left to right of the seat, basically that has slightly bent out of shape. Happened to mine after my brother put a petrol can under the seat and slammed the seat down...thing was I was getting petrol for his car that had broken down!! Anyways, it might take a bit of trial and error with this bar, but u need to bend it to its original shape. You might find that a bend has appeared in the middle of the bar, so try to straighten it out. Let me know if it works, if not I’ll try again

Ta for that but it would appear that the seat doesn't like being locked in position when the seat is pushed back on the runners. If you push the seat further forward the seat locks quite happily !!!! Something definitely happened as it never used to do that !!!!

Oh well, will put the rubbers back on again now (well one anyway as I bust one trying to get them off  )

At least it's a bit safer now !!!

my sei one used to bounce out, but only on one side though

i just used my fat ass to make sure it stayed down

i think the rubber things are only there to stop the metal of the seat and the metal of the runners from touching

from what i remember there are 2 prongs that fix the seat down and these prongs lift up when you pull the lever on the side

maybe one or both have become stuck, best to stick your head under and see whats happening

if all else fails a big hammer fixes most things :p

Carla, don't forget we changed the runners with your S ones. That might have distrubed them. However, the bar it hooks to has nothing to do with the runners. I'll take a look next week for ya:) You've got my number, just drop me a text and we'll sort something:)
