Hi Everyone

Some help from you would be much appriciated. Sorry if it sounds like a stupid question, but only been driving a few months.

My Central Locking Remote does not seem to work all the time, sometimes it will work after a few seconds, other times it will take minutes before it will work. Im guessing it is probably just the battery that needs replacing, however whoever has replaced the battery before has broken the screw the holds the remote together.

I will try other ways to get to remote open, but if I cannot, or cannot get it back together after. How would I go about getting a replacement remote that would work on my car.

Thanks

Unless I'm mistaken then no cento came with fiat remotes, in which case you either have an alarm fitted with integrated remote locking, or you have the Meta optional extra, which is just a replacement central locking relay with aerial.

Is there a brand on your fob?

Hi

Thanks for your responses. The remote is for a 02 Siecento. The doors dont have any holes for keys so Im assuming this is a standard remote. It doesn't not operate an alarm just opens the doors.

its not a red sporting by any chance is it?

Er... what makes you say that?

Ours seems to have developed the same problem as the OP. In short, it seems that at some time in the dim and distant past (a long time ago now) the car had a new ECU. We have the transponder keys which start the car, but they do not operate the door locks (although strangely they do fit the boot...)

Anyway, the remote fob for the central locking has gone on the blink. Without this, the only way to lock/unlock the car is by sending in a small child via the tailgate. Not ideal. I assumed that getting a replacement remote fob would be a trifling matter, but it appears not. The one we have seems to be a generic aftermarket type with no name or identifying marks. Any guidance as to where I might find the CL relay/receiver, in the hope that I might find more clues there?

Failing that, any other brilliant suggestions?
