Recently bought a immaculate cinquecento 1997. Loads of history, invoices etc but told engine overheated and making noises.

Anyway washed and battery charged tried starting today. Battery reading only 7.3 volts on multimeter put charged up and put battery booster on but now it just makes like a fuel pump noice and doesnt start.

Any ideas folks ?

Try another battery. Sometimes they get in such a state that even a booster won't work.

If that doesn't do it, try the rallycinq single jump lead from battery negative to a solid part of the engine trick.

If the car then starts, you need to unbolt the main earths -- one from wing to battery, one from wing to gearbox, clean them up well, smear with vaseline -- or better, silicone grease, and re-attach.

change your battery or try to replace the alternator.
or...could be your injector is dirty use special product for clean all.

I happened to put fuel from a dealer. the car stocked and the fault injector blinked, fuel station changed the problem disappeared

Ive often found that pulling out the plugs, squirting petrol down the bores with a syringe then putting the plugs back in fast. Normally an engine will start (if there was a spark in the 1st place). It may only run for a few seconds, but if it does, it may point towards fuel supply problem? If you're really, really lucky it might suck the petrol through and keep running
