Done all of this in a little under 30 hours and left it at that for the first day.

Not sure which is funnier... a 30 hour day, or the fact it has taken you 30 hours to write of a rare low mileage seicento.

Ive done some stupid stuff myself, and respect you for trying... BUT... clearly no thought went into this prior to the grinder mashing... (IE no braces tacked in before cutting to keep the car in the shape of a car!!)...

You really needed to research... both on your project and your friends, as by the sounds of it, their mugging you right off....

Hopefully this isnt another one for the metal yard... although will be a bit pointless with half of it removed and replaced with mdf.

I'm afraid I have to agree, clearly you haven't seen how unsafe these cars are complete. If you need a confidence booster, then looks at Pirus' crash result.

Props for trying, but it's just another one for the fail bin, unless your going to correct your "friends" cock up.

Cutting springs, bad idea by the way. :D

Thanks

EDIT!! Save you searching around. https://www.fiatforum.com/cinquecento-seicento/297564-not-giving-up.html I spent 3 months building this car all by the book and properly. Still didn't save it from folding like a piece of paper.

I paid for most of it, the other two lads chipped in a little and I'm getting free use of a workshop with ramp etc so I won't be putting the foot down yet ;)

Yes they have ruined it but we're going to solider on! Maybe we can make something good of it, if not then I don't give a toss tbh, the car was mega cheap and it hasn't cost us anything yet so what we'd lose isn't worth crying over.

No we didn't weld any braces. Its permanently off the road now and will just be used for show.

The wood won't be staying there. We'll fill that gap with a sheet of metal or something and have it sprayed like the rest of the car.

The bootlid was fecked anyway and no use. The bottom end of it was all pulled outwards.

No work done today lads as they were busy with other things in the garage :(

Work will resume tomorrow though!

Thanks for all the replys btw

Everyone is jumping all over this, its clearly not finished and if it doesnt get done then ? does it matter ? .......... someone has a go at something different, is brave enough to post some pics, i dont see the harm, granted it may not have been the way i would of attacked it. Ive seen a similar thing happen on a American car forum where the poor guy was jumped all over for doing something different and left.

I applaud those that have a go.

The only person jumping is you....

The fact the car has had a structural point removed, was not correctly braced prior to cutting, has resulted in chassis issues, as it appears panels no longer fit.

There may be a grammar issue with the sentence i wrote, but its a car forum, not a literacy exam...

I know why you would side with him, ive seen your thread....

as for knocking somebody's confidence.... if you cant take a joke, dont drive one.. or in this case make it out of 50% wood and claim its a show car.

Side with him ? no.

Its a monocoque structure.

But this is my favourite............ " I know why you would side with him, ive seen your thread.... " care to expand on this ?

The clue is in the name.

Astronaut?

End of the day, this thread is going way off topic... The guy i respect for having a go.. but due to lack of research has come to a point where he has a vehicle he cant use...

You said earlier 'surely its just for show' but forgot the part where he mentioned he is using someone else's unit (as clearly he doesn't have room/storage)...

So wheres the car going to go?

At the unit?? doubt it... his friends are trying to rush it all along.. Guessing to get it out of there quick...

Doubt he has a garage... if he did, he wouldn't be borrowing a unit...

So you have one last choice.... well two... either on the road, with NO MOT, TAX or INSURANCE.... or in his lounge as a large coffee table...

Lets just hope he has a large living room...

I'm going to resist replying again as its going wayyyy off topic...

Hey fair play to you, forget the comments of some, you made a good start and went a little wayward. I am sure you can alter it with a little help and make a very short car like a smart car version of the Cento. And I say why not. Its easy to be critical, but I sir salute your balls, nothing ventured nothing gained.

Thanks for your input, its really appreciated.

There was no need for braces to be put in as the car will never be on the road again. Its going to be used strictly for advertising.

As above, thanks for your input. But again, its only been used for advertising. Absolutely nothing else. It won't be on the road so there is no worry with safety.

Isnt this just a show car ? and not destined for the street ?

Sorry, I worded my last post wrong. Its being used for show, to attract attention i.e - advertising. I'd never bring it to a show lol :p

Its only became that due to writing it off within a 30 hour day...

Is this thing seriously going to be towed / trailored to a show?

No, its not.

best of luck man! (subscribed)

Cheers buddy :)

:yeahthat:

It's a difficult project at the best of times. I'd look at it as a first sketch. Next time, I'd look at bracing, lengthening, and using the rear hatch as the boot.

Plasma cutter (and fire extinguisher) would probably speed built time.

But, please, do it to a Sei, not a Cento.

Thanks a lot :) I'm going to put much more effort and preparation in the next project. I'll have first say over everything too.

There aren't a shortage of Cinqs over here. Plus they can be picked up very, very cheap as most people would buy a Punto over one. Also, cinqs seem easier to work on with their square shape, Seis are just awkward!
