Oh the thread title ryhmes!

Anyway, I'm due to fit yet another cable tonight and have read threads etc and know how to do it but I was wondering if all owners could post up how many cables you've went through and in what time period?

Myself would be

Three cables in little over three years and all in 35K miles!

I have a feeling Gaz may win though!

I am going to order the unbreakable one after I fit this standard item.

i think it finished up at being 8, i didnt bother counting after 5

it took me 18 months to achieve this goal and about 20k

they used to snap like clockwork, either every 3000 miles or 3 months, whichever was sooner :(

if i never re-fitted a cable it was usually done foc at my local garage, cause suprisingly enough i was his best customer :D

the fiat eper parts list shows a picture of a much better looking cable, just a shame its only a pic :(

the un-breakable one was a bitch to fit in a sei, so i gave it to alex ghost, who said it was easy to fit in a cinq

Only had 1 snap in 8k miles since i had my cinq. But i fitted a brand new clutch at the same time the cable snapped so that might have helped this one last.

The clutch on the Punto 55 (same engine as a Cento Sporting and I think the same gearbox) is hydraulic... has anyone tried fitting this hydraulic system to a Cinq/Sei?

I'm not goin to get involved in this thread because I just know if I say I have never had to change one it'll break tommorrow.........

Oh ******

clutch cable should not really go more than 1 a year.. if it does im sure there are other problems.. i changed my clutch and cable together and i have not chnaged the cable for over 12K. i do check once a month to make sure the cable is not too worn....
:D

40k miles (all done by me :D ) and still the original one fitted in the factory lol..... watch it break tomoro! LOL

btw if anyone can help?....

i wanted to keep a spare in the car but the independant place said theres 2 listed for my sei.. one longer the other shorter? how can i know?

oh and its a.... x reg 2000 sei sporting last of the spi's

ta :D

the 899cc cable is the shorter of the two :)

Yes it is, I got my second cabel from a factors and was midway fitting it when I was trying to stretch it but decided it was too short, the 899cc one has a shorter threaded section on it than the Sporting kind.

Sorry to those cable virgins if I've jinxed them!!

sounds like I'm doing pretty well (and tempting fate by posting this) but only two replacement cables in 8 years and 112,000 miles... I do always carry a spare in the boot though, just in case!

Ive just gotta say all these people who are having em snap willy nilly......are you doing a good job!! :p
