I've recently changed the Head Gasket on my Schumacher and checked the timing's correct but it won't start. I've tried turning it over by hand and the pulley seams to go round quite tightly then slips and then's quite tight as it goes around and then slips again. Can anyone suggest anything I've missed? Thanks

Have a look at the bottom pulley,there is a little hole on it and behind on crankshaft cam belt pulley there is a nipple,well nipple should be in the hole if not it wont start

Whip the plugs out.

Turn over by hand several times.

If it turns over smoothly with no hard points, all should be well.

Check the timing marks are still in alignment, and then when you put the bottom pulley back on make sure you find that nipple as above.

Finally had a day off with no rain and thanks for the help it was the nipple as suggested and is all sorted now.
