right, at the end of October im travelling to Cornwall, it will be roughly a 500 mile trip etc, Ive just serviced the car, new plugs, leads, oil etc. Now this is my first time doing such a long distance trip, is there any other precautions to take etc, i will be travelling with a heavy leiden sei with a roof bars too, thanks.

Don't worry about it, as long it's had regular servicing and you've checked all of the important stuff (tyres, brakes, fluids, etc). I regularly do 800+ miles round trips up to my folks in Elgin in mine.

yeah im doing the brakes next month, would it be ok u reckon to just change the front pads or shuld i do disks as well?

Might want to take a clutch cable and some basic tools. I've never actually snapped one but everyone else seems to go through them like guitar strings.

Check how badly worn the discs are, there is a wear limit which I can't remember off the top of my head.

this is my biggest concern, i have snapped one before

it feels like they need doing, and it was a advisory on my MOT, so better safe....

worry not, 500 miles is nothing. Just remember to pump up your tyres a bit if your gonna be fully laiden, check levels before you set off.

yeah im gonna pump up the tyres first, check coolant, oil - should be ok as was serviced yesterday, brake fluid, ill check water closer to the time

remember to fill up your washer bottle too

I hope you check your lights and levels on a weekly basis, whether you are going 5 miles or 500 miles.

Just got back from 1000 mile trip to France and back in my Cinq with no problems.

Just (as previously mentioned) keep an eye on your levels.

Just driven 1278 miles down to Spain without any problems. We drove from Calais to Barcelona non-stop, and it was fine. I just kept an eye on the temp gauge, and kept it at a staedy 70, and it was fine. As has already been said, make sure the tyre pressures are correct for a full load. Check everything before you go, and it should be fine.

check my lights everytime i set off in dark, i carry a set of bulbs in the boot in case, as with oil etc, i check oil maybe every 10 days to be honest, pretty frequent, so yeah,
