Sat on my drive is a brand spanking new 500 in silver, quite a high spec one with panoramic roof. Looks very pretty.

Mine for 48 hours. Have been hinting at the rental company delivery man for months that I wanted to have one .................

Thing is I don't actually like it as much as I thought I would

Just out of interest - what would happen if he was talking about an alternative manufacturer but marked it off topic? Would that remain here because he is a cinq driver or get moved to non fiat section?

This thread and the example above have nothing to do with this section with the only connection being they drive a car relevent to this section

In theory what is being said is you can talk about anything you want here so long as you mark it off topic and you drive a cento?

Personally speaking, it depends on the context of the thread. In this case, I'm (perhaps wrongly) presuming that the OP's intention was to compare the 500 to their Cento. If that's the case I'd leave it here.
If the non-fiat thread is technical or for that matter even asking opinions about a non-fiat model, I'd move it.
But yes, as long as it's marked as off-topic you can talk about whatever you like (within the bounds of the forum rules), the prefix will show these threads in Leisure Lounge as a cross reference in case anyone non-Cento wants to join in (as wegi has done).

That's right I drive a Cinquecento and a Seicento which shows evolution of the design.

Couldn't wait to drive a 500 as it should have been more of the same in theory.

OK its a 'better' car than both mine and some of the design is very pretty and clever but its lost a lot of the spirit of the older models. So one day when numbers of centos drops this is the small Fiat that we will be driving.

The evolution of the Cinquecento and Seicento started with the Panda/Lancia Y10 and ended with the Seicento. The new 500 is based on the New Panda chassis and modular design platform used throughout the Fiat range. The only thing the 500 has in common with the Seicento is the FIRE engine models. The rest is either new for the car or Punto/New Panda based.

When the new Panda came out in 2003 I saw a photoshopped three door version and I wish Fiat made one. That would be the nearest to the Seicento's ethos but has only ever happened on a screen. :(

Just to be pedantic, i'd argue that the evolution of the cinq started with the 126, they share many parts.

End of the day though, no new car will ever feel anything like a cento. They just will always be too heavy with the regs they have to be built to these days. Cento = no safety = very light = fun chuckable car

interesting, what part do they share?
