(G) Misfiring

Another one of these threads...

For a while now i've had misfiring, in damp conditions.
Checked under the bonnet, dont have a clue where and what im looking at, with engine on, i say 'What looked like small christmas lights'
It was misfiring when i reved it, went out in the car about 3hrs ago, so it's only been resting for around 3hrs and is misfiring.


P.S it's raining outside.

HT leads sound buggered, did you see sparks jumping about all over them?

Didn't really see them jumping, but there were the small spots of light all over the place. At first i thought it was just droplets of water reflecting, but its not...

Mainly to the left of the Air filter, i saw some jumping, only small sparks. Touched it and got a slight tingle...

you need to buy new HT leads then, they have gone porous

yes about as easy as you can get.
buy a set change one at a time, then you wont mix up what one goes where

just go to your local motor factors (or halfords) and ask for a set for your car

don't go halfords you may end up with leads for a different car

well i never recommend halfords tbh but the reference books don't tend to lie. Its mroe just coz everything is expensive that i avoid it myself.

ive heard 3 stories in the last week that would say other wise. one was they told a guy he needed h4 bulbs in the shop for mk2 headlights no mk2 have that same dude looked on website put reg in and was told h1 for 1 beam h7 fot the other, thats wrong too they have a matching pair of one or the other.

another was a dude went to buy ht leads for a 16v punto and was told same leads fit from 97-06 that is also wrong mk1 and mk2 have different ends for coils on a 16v, so same leads cant fit both

well yes if you take what the youngsters that work in there say as fact then your likely to run into problems. I have never found the reference guides on the shelves to be wrong though.

But this is why i suggested to walk into local motor factors and ask as a preference.
