Question car completly dead. large fuse at the battery?

my battery went flat the other day and my dad tried to jump start it yesterday while i was at work.

apparently it turned over then nothing. i've just been to try and jump it, but there is no electricity getting to the cinq. even with jump cables connected, the dash lights wont even come on.

i beleive he blew a fuse whilst trying to jump it and assume its probably the large one that sits on top of the battery?

does that sound the problem? if so what size fuse do i need to replace it with?

cheers
adam

Get hold of a multimeter and change the battery. Test the fuse and then check the fusebox points for the Ignition circuit, It sounds like he fused it.

Cheers

Probably jumped it incorrectly, too. The correct way is good battery + to bad battery +, good battery - to earth point on chassis.

orthhile having the battery tested -- it's usually free.

its probably safe to say they jumped it wrong.

took the large 100amp fuse out of the housing on the positive battery cable and found it had blown.

been to a few motor factors today and none have ever seen a fuse like it, so will have to order one from the internet and wait for it to arrive.

once thats done, battery test needs to be done.

also change expansion tank, wheel bearings, brake discs, pads, shoes

I'd get an expansion tank from a scrappy -- the SEi ones can be used as well, with a little jiggery. It is said that taking the cap off, wrapping well in an old towel, and bunging in the washing machine while no-one's looking cleans them up very well indeed.
