Hi,

Got an M reg Cinq 899 SX and it's running fast. Bit of a novice so if anyone could point me towards a possible solution, it'd be much appreciated.

Only thing that may be related is that the map sensor was replaced about 2 years ago as the light on the dash was staying on. Now it doesn't stay on all the time but does go off prior to starting the engine but then comes back on for a short while before going off again.

Excuse my ignornace, but when i look under the bonnet, where are we talking? Is this the corrugated type hose which is back right, not far from teh MAP sensor?

The thin breather T's off of the main breather on the rocker cover then loops round to the front of the throttle-body and connects below the butterfly.

My original one was flattened & blocked.
When replaced by one that was still pipe shaped the idle was far too high and I had to lower it with the tiny Allen screw under the throttle quadrant.

Best avoided, though, as it can upset the throttle potentiometer something dreadful.
I suspect it had been adjusted up by a previous owner due to the blocked small breather.
There is an inlet air path through that breather that bypasses the throttle & idle valve.
