hey guys just after some info on a service first service ive done and im giving it the works!
fuel filter
oil filter
oil
thermostat
engine flush
coolant flush
coolant
fuel filter
rear brake shoes
handbrake cable
spark plugs
ignition leads
gearbox oil change (as it should have been done at 72,000 but i have no record of it being done and im now around 78,000)
clutch cable

just wondering what type of oil/coolant&antifreeze/plugs i should be using?

the leads im going for are magnecor 8mm in blue.
im changing the thermostat as its faulty.
im sure i need a new rocker cover gasket as well as i have oil leaking down the side of the block although that looks like it could be coming from the thermostat so possibly just the thermostat gasket?
any advice is very much apreciated :)

Some of this stuff is probably unecessary. I'd not replace the clutch cable, or the handbrake cable unless it's actually necessary -- breakage or seizure.

The only advantage the pink antifreeze has is longer life.

Plugs -- NGK V type, gearbox oil SAE 80 W EP (the stuff FIAT sell is said to be the very best for these boxes and isn't overly expensive). Engine oil 10/40 Semi Synthetic -- the GM stuff is probably the cheapest out there, meets the specs, and RallyCinq uses it in the rally car.

Oil won't be coming from the thermostat, but from the coil pack O ring.

Flush and clean out the crankcase breather pipe, coppaslip the handbrake actuator elbows.

im not sure if it is oil or not if im totally honest! its black i know that much! but it looks like its coming from the thermostat, and im constantly topping my header tank up with water (not ideal i know) as it has a different amount in whenever i check it :bang: so possibly water leaking out ouf thermostat gasket which needs replacing? the water in my header tank is somewhat oily, i praying its not the HG its had one already about a year back now so mabye oil left in the cooling system from previous HG failure?

Could be -- sometimes the thermostat gasket will stress out if the thing has seized shut.

You -- desperately -- need to either find the cause of the water leak or (if not found) do a compression test, before you do a service, or you'll end up having to renew (at least) the rocker cover gasket, oil and coolant.

when my clutch cable first snapped my neighbour whos a mechanic changed it for me with the help of his aprentice (who also has a cinq) and he said something about my thermostat gasket needed changing so im sure its coming from the thermostat

Did you change the clutch, or just the cable? Cables are not a service item.

had 3 cables in 6 months so i changed the clutch just after xmas with a 2 month old cable on it and didnt change it so im going to change it for peace of mind.(y)
