I've got a few problems, which are probably minor, but are really driving me mad now. It's been to a garage for electronic diagnosis, and they said there was nothing wrong with it, but I'm not convinced. The symptons are a 'spitting' (possibly misfire) when idling, and then when under heavy load, eg. hills, there's like a ticking noise. I don't think the ticking is normal, when I replaced the fuel filter the problem went for a few months, but is starting to happen occasionally again. This ticking does some to be worse when damp for some reason, but the misfire is after the engine has warmed up for a couple of miles.

I have just discovered that my injector unit seems to have a slight leak, and I'm wondering whether it could be related. It is slightly oily just to the left of the throttle stop thing, and around where the Throttle body (I think), meets the thing attaches to. I took the injector housing thing off, and it's all clean up there, it's further down. Does anybody know what this could be? Of course, it is possible that the oil is from when somebody serviced the car, and lubricated the throttle thing.

My car's an 899cc Sei, with 40,000 miles. It's got fresh oil, fresh air filter, Magnecor leads, I've tried new spark plugs, and I've tried a different ignition coil.

Hi,
Try putting some injector cleanor in with your petrol next time you fill up, it could be a bunged up injector thats got a bit noisy...

ps. My 899cc cinq ticks a bit under load when cold, but fine once warmed up..

Thanks

Done it, although I could try some more. My injector's like a typewriter when cold, but I know that's normal. In the summer it's fine, and this ticking also happens when fully warm, eg. after 100 miles on the m/way.
