Hi guys,

Lookin for a bit og technical advise,
Could i fit a mk2 punto 1242 8v into my cinq???

I know u can do the swop but am not sure if the punto engines are different for the mk1's and the mk2's

Cheers

Yes I think they are different. All the mark 2s I have seen have the multi point injection. This will not match your inlet manifold. If your 1108 head is in good nick you could put the 1242 bottom end under your current head, which would match your manifold, obviously.

Cheers

Damn, had a chance of a 1242 from a mk2 punto at a too good to be true price, obviously it was, but thanks for sortin that out 4 me.

My next question then has to be... anyone out there with a 1242 8v engine for sale????

Thanks mate, i'll ask!

Got a bit of a summer project on my hands. Wanna keep the cinq for all the obvious reasons but i feel the need... the need 4 speed. lol.
Thinkin that with the 1242, 70bhp will be easy but unsure how to get any more without payin £££'s. Engine + mods i don't wanna spend much more than £1200. Any suggestions??

Usual modding route is
airfilter - GSR or CDA is best,
exhaust - Supersprint or janspeed,
Chip - mckrich chip or superchip,
TB - via tricker on here check for a sticky,

I'm sure that would see you around 70, also get a 75 engine and use the cam too but after all that you really should be thinking about brakes and ususpension though too.

i'm likin the sound of all this guys.
already considered the stainless manifold and exhaust (no cat allready)
the car is dropped 40mm on 195/45/14's and i've got black diamond discs and greenstuff pads so they're sorted.
Also, with this TB from tricker, i mite sound thick, but does it affect what air filter i can use? And with all these mods to the engine, will the standard plug n plag chips be OK?
