Hi all I'm looking for any sales or technical information on the 999cc 16v seicento that was apparently sold in brazil, wickopedia has some info but I need to be able to prove that Fiat made and marketed this model so I can then use the 16v head onto the 1126 race engine, I have looked in the brochure & technical sections of the forum but nothing there so can anybody throw up any info ??? cheers in advance

Why go to Brazil?

The head is likely to be identical to the 1242 16v one.

Or, if that's what you have in mind, and the Brazil thing is a paper chase, why not simply Fax FIAT in Italy (or in Brazil)? Get the numbers off the respective trade delegates at the respective embassies.

AFAIK, the engine is still made (for ethanol).

you could do this. biggest problem with be with cam belt tensioner but its to solve
such a engines was built (1.1+16v head from 1.2)
but in my opinion is not worth
race engine? emission restrictions ? ECU type ?

If it is for a race engine then it probably *is* worth it. The smaller engine capacity combined with a high flow head is a great combination. Valve lift is limited but there are examples of the 16v engine that will rev to 10k+ after suitable preparation. If the limitation is on engine capacity then this is a fairly good choice. The early 16v head will bolt straight onto the early 8v block with just pulleys to sort out (btw the 8v crank pulley will disintegrate under race loads - you have been warned, the 16v pulley seems to be ok though but keep this in mind).

We ran the 8v engine in our old FRC spec Punto and it certainly performed. Despite having the smallest capacity in the championship (LMA Eurosaloons) it could out-drag most of the other cars in the class (old Golf GTIs, Fiesta Zetecs, etc). The 16v engine wasn't permitted under the original FRC rules and we didn't have the spare cash to build another engine for LMA so we just went with it and had fun.

Try finding out who posted the tech details on your wiki site and get them to prove it. We couldn't do this for LMA as the sales had to be in the UK to qualify otherwise we would have been running something far more entertaining as there are plenty of models that don't make it to our shores.

Have a look at the south african production too - they have produced some alternative production that might be interesting too.

If it was an official model, then it is supprising there is no mention of it in ePER.
It has the Sei production up to 2010 (when it stopped), but with just the 1108MPi by that time.

I know for a fact that the Seicento was built in Poland and South Africa but I can find no mention of the South African production. No mention is made of the Seicento being produced in Brazil as they had the later Mk3 Uno instead of the Cinq.

I found the reference to the 1 litre 16v engine that uses sequential injection, just no idea what it was actually fitted to... my best guess is the later Uno I mentioned
